While certain thyroid conditions can cause hair loss, losing hair doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong with your thyroid. Since male pattern baldness accounts for more than 95% of hair loss in men—according to the American Hair Loss Association—it’s much more likely that MPB is to blame.

For more information, read about the differences between hair loss caused by male pattern baldness and hair loss caused by thyroid issues. (But don’t diagnose yourself! Be sure to consult with a medical provider if you think something might be wrong with your thyroid.)
